Julia Loera Flores, born January 9, 1932 and passed away January 29, 2017. Recitation of the rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2018. Funeral mass will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2018 at San Jose Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Flores Jr., Julia’s parents, Jose Loera and Emilia Sosa Loera, sisters, Concepcion Loera Reyna, Mary Sue Loera Regalado, and grandchild, Leslie S. Flores.
She is survived by son, Vincent Lee Flores, Wife – Barbara Borden Flores, daughters, Roseann Flores Roberts, Husband – Christopher Roberts, Sandra J. Flores Maldanado, Husband – David Maldanado, grandchildren, Theresa Flores, Sofia Flores, Raquel Roberts, Brianna Camacho (Isaac), Vincent Roberts, Alex Maldanado, great-grandchild, Ezra Vincent Camacho, and a brother, Manuel Loera.
Julia was a native South Austinite, who had an absolute zest for life and love for music and dance. She was a popular singer at the Jamaicas at San Jose Catholic church, she also sang on the local Spanish radio station in the 1940s. She received her first sacraments at the original San Jose church on West Mary. She and her husband Vincent spent 57 wonderful years together. She was a devoted wife and mother and grandmother, who loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally. She was always the life of the party and made friends wherever she went. Julia will be tremendously missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, one great-granchild and brother.
