December 1, 1961-November 5, 2015
Michael Hernandez joined our Lord and savior on Thursday, November 5, 2015, four months after his sister, Ann “Vela” Gonzales passed away. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, godfather and friend. He is survived by his mother, Teresa, and brothers, Rudy and John Frank Hernandez, his god-son Enrique Hernandez Jr., and god-daughter Ava Ann Gonzales, and 26 nieces and nephews. He joins his father, Rudolph Hernandez, Sr., and sister, Ann “Vela” Gonzales in heaven.
Michael attended St. Ignatius School through the 8th Grade, and graduated from William B. Travis in 1979. He worked for the State of Texas as an Auditor for the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) since 1998.
He loved listening to live music and was an avid sports fan. He followed the Orioles, the Vikings, the San Antonio Spurs, he especially loved his hometown Texas Longhorns. He enjoyed tailgating with his family and friends at Longhorn football and baseball games. Michael was a dog lover and loved his dog “Buddy” who also passed away a couple of months ago.
The family would like to thank DSHS and its employees for their support and compassion throughout this difficult time.
We will miss Michael dearly.
