Valentin E. Yanez, Sr., age 87,
of Buda, Texas passed away
on Sunday, April 17, 2016.
He was in the U.S. Army from 1946-1954 and served in the Korean War as Corporal. Valentin was a member of the American Legion Post 0345. After serving his country, Valentin came home to Maxwell, where he worked at Camp Gary Job Corp until “retirement.” Not being able to sit still, Valentin started up the Yanez Tavern in Maxwell where he grew a faithful clientele. He loved to get away to nearby casinos to try his luck at slots. He was very family oriented, and loved his boys and grandchildren dearly. Valentin loved entertaining friends at the Tavern and playing a round of pool.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother Luz Elizondo Yanez; father, Basilio Yanez; brother, Luciano (chano) Yanez; brother, Ernestino (Tino) Yanez; brother, Natevida (Nate) Yanez; and brother, Victoriano Yanez.
Valentin is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia Riojas Yanez; son, Valentin Yanez, Jr., and wife Jody Lawrence Yanez; son, Mario Yanez, and wife Tina West-Yanez; son, Hector Yanez, and wife Lisa Yanez; son, Frank Yanez and wife Oralia Yanez; sister, Valentina Barboza; brothers, Vicente Yanez, Faustino Yanez, and Bentura Yanez; grandchildren, Taylor, Tristan and Troy (Val & Jody); grandchild, Sydney (Mario & Tina); grandchildren, Brian and Christopher (Hector & Lisa); grandchildren, Jacqueline, Alan, and Megan (Frank & Orie).
